Awake seeks to create opportunities for meaningful conversation and action around important community issues. We provide support to individuals and groups who seek to come together to address issues in Berwyn and the surrounding communities. Berwyn News Crew

The Berwyn News Crew seeks to bring a bilingual community newspaper to Berwyn. This newspaper will focus on local government, culture, politics, entertainment, and community issues. If you would like to get involved with this effort, please send your name and contact information to Lisa Polderman at berwynsawake@gmail.com with “Berwyn News” in the subject line.

Berwyn Comunidad en Acción / Berwyn Community Action

This is a resident-led community group that focuses on justice issues in Berwyn and the surrounding communities. The group helped pass Berwyn’s Welcoming City Ordinance and convinced Berwyn’s City Council to keep workers’ rights by opting in to the Cook County Minimum Wage/Paid Sick Leave ordinance. At the school level, this group is working with the BSD100 School Board to make sure that BSD100 has a strong Welcoming Policy for immigrant students, parents, and teachers.  For more information or to get involved, please contact Anna Marin at berwynsawake@gmail.com with “BCA” in the subject line, or visit our Facebook page here.

Save BSD100 Schools Group

Please join in our discussion of the financial and instructional issues at BSD100. We will organize for action around funding issues at the city and state level. This is a great way to stay informed and get involved in an important community issue. English/Spanish.
